Sophie’s Steps Recap (2022)

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, Silken Twine hosted its third annual virtual walk/run event called Sophie’s Steps to raise money and awareness for the charity. As in previous years, the event was a resounding success; Silken Twine had set a goal to raise $8,000.00 to support pediatric cancer patients/survivors and their families. With the support of 66 registrants, 45 donors, and help from local sponsors, Silken Twine achieved its goal of raising over $8,000.00! Sophie’s Steps drew participants from all over the world from Kansas to Vermont and from Germany all the way to India. We thank everyone who participated, donated, sponsored, and helped organize for their contribution!

The event marked a special day, September 25th is Sophie’s birthday. The day was spent remembering and celebrating the life of Sophie Malaviya, who lost her battle with cancer in 2017. The virtual event rallied friends and family around the globe to start walking or running and sharing pictures to show their support.

Silken Twine would also like to congratulate the winners of two prizes being offered for the virtual event. Henry Felix won a $100 gift card for Wegmans for traveling the greatest distance on their run or walk. Shilpe Gandre-Babbe won a $25 gift card for Iron Hill Brewery as the winner of the random raffle of all the race participants.

We’d like to once again thank everyone who participated and look forward to seeing you all in our fourth annual Sophie’s Steps Walk/Run Event!
