Sophie’s Steps Recap (2020)

On Sunday, September 27, 2020, Silken Twine hosted a virtual walk/run event called Sophie’s Steps to raise money and awareness for the charity. The event was a massive success; Silken Twine had set a goal to raise $5,000.00 to support pediatric cancer patients/survivors and their families. With the support of 81 registrants, 58 donors, and help from local sponsors, Silken Twine raised over $7,500.00! Sophie’s Steps drew participants from all over the world from California to Massachusetts and from Germany all the way to India. We thank everyone who participated, donated, sponsored, and helped organize for their contribution!

The event also marks a day to remember the life of Sophie Malaviya, who lost her battle with cancer in 2017. The virtual event rallied friends and family around the globe to start walking or running and sharing pictures to show their support.

Silken Twine would also like to congratulate the winners of two prizes being offered for the virtual event. Sarah Wied won a $100 gift card for traveling the greatest distance on their run or walk. Chris Kolb won a $100 gift card as the winner of the random raffle of all the race participants.

We’d like to once again thank everyone who participated and look forward to seeing you all in our second annual Sophie’s Steps Walk/Run Event!
